The following is a list of sustainable practices and policies currently being implemented by the Colorado Convention Center.

Photovoltaic panel installation on roof capable of continually providing 300KW of power.
Building lighting on street and lower level have been converted from incandescent light to compact fluorescent lights.
Update of 74 Watt, T-12 fluorescent lighting to 35 watt T-8 fluorescent lights.
Timed lighting system controlled by electricians allows lighting levels to be at 50% during event move-in and move out, and 100% only during event hours in occupied space.
Back of house and administrative offices on sensor lighting systems.
CCC is now on city wide steam tube and shell system for heating, allowing for lower preset temperatures when building is unoccupied and more efficient control.
A central underground chilled water loop, allowing for greater efficiency for cooling the building customized to our clients needs.
All exterior glass is low E grade to assist in the maintenance of building temperatures.
Abundant natural lighting in our lobby areas.
Monitoring and control of doors by security through facility walks focusing on closing doors not in use.
Centralized location in downtown Denver means walking distance to over 300 restaurants and 7000 hotel rooms.
Light rail stop at the convention center which serves the greater metro Denver area.
Free ECO-Passes given to all employees of the CCC to encourage light rail and bus use.
Parking Garage permanently dedicated 3 free parking spaces to Hybrid vehicles.
Heppa filters in vacuums used by housekeeping department and throughout the building.
Use of micro-fiber clothes by housekeeping department.
Conversion of all existing toilets and urinals to low flush. Water savings translates to be 1,000 gallons if all were flushed simultaneously.
Old toilets and urinals were donated to local gravel company to be used as road base for local construction projects.
Motion sensor sinks in bathrooms.
Xeriscape of the landscape along 14th Street to reduce water usage.
Recycling of plastic and glass bottles, aluminum/tin cans, paper and cardboard products in a co-mingled, single stream program throughout the facility, in every meeting room and on the exhibit hall floor.
No compactor charge to clients for recycled items.
Kitchen compost program beginning implementation July 2008.
Post-consumer content and recycled office supplies used in all administrative offices.
Waste is separated as wet or dry to accomplish maximum capacity when compacted.
Recycle used batteries, oil, ballast, fluorescent light bulbs, and aerosol cans.
Housekeeping department uses only Green Seal Certified cleaning products.
Contribution of 100 Trees in the name of our clients to the Mile High Million Tree Campaign.
Mindful purchasing process evaluating with “green” products whenever possible.
Reports and documents produced paperless whenever possible.
"Champion for the Environment" Employee Award program.
Food Donation Program.
Option for china instead of paper products.
Option for local and organic meals.
Water station options available vs. water bottles.
Option for bulk condiments.
Use of post-consumer content office products in administrative office.
Switching fixtures in Exhibit Hall to all Florescent lights for a savings of 2,679,412kwhr per year.
Pursuing LEED-Existing Building Certification.
Pursuing Environmental Management System (EMS) Certification by end of 2008.
